The school board elections had the most significant impact. For over 50 years, liberals have controlled the Fayette County School Board. Consequently, our school system has been unsuccessful. The reading and math proficiency rates are only 18.4% and 13.4% respectively, making the county school system rank last in the state.
The school's financial situation is chaotic due to dishonesty and poor management. Last year, the school board, dominated by liberals, exceeded the budget by over $500k. The Budget Director was responsible for creating both that budget and the current proposal, which would drastically reduce the school's fund balance to slightly over $2 million. Such a strategy is unprecedented for maintaining a financially stable school system. The liberal school board approved both.
Despite the shortage of teachers in the school system, there are certified teachers working in non-teaching administrative roles at the central office. Over the years, the liberal board has prioritized job opportunities for friends and family members over the education of children in Fayette County. This is reflected in the system's educational performance, the excessive number of employees in higher positions, and the ongoing federal lawsuit unrelated to education that has lasted for 50 years.
